The Doorways of Yesteryear.

Moving Day for Belle and Coco
Saturday was moving day this past weekend for Coco and Belle. Mr. B. and I rented a truck, filled it with all kinds of furniture and appliances from our house and drove north to deliver. We went to Belle's new place first-a snappy apartment on the 8th floor of a brand new apartment building about one hour and 30 minutes from my house.
Really Nice.  She is so excited about her very first place.  We delivered a dining room table and huge hutch for her new space but couldn't stay long.  It was simple moving;  through the buildings' front sliding door, into the foyer, then into the elevator, up 8 floors and into the apartment.  No problem--just heavy, heavy furniture.

Next we were off to Coco's house, thirty minutes away.   Coco bought her first house in February 2012.  The 100 year old house is undergoing major renovations.  Just as many, if not more than my yellow brick house.

Coco hasn't moved in yet.  One reason being the lack of appliances, which is what Mr. B. and I delivered yesterday.  Very difficult moving modern appliances into a 100 year old home.  The appliances of today don't fit through the doorways of yesterday.  Mr. B. had to remove the refrigerator doors while Coco started removing the kitchen doors to get the normal sized refrigerator into Coco's tangerine kitchen.

Moving the washing machine down the cellar steps was a challenge.  Narrow doorways and many sharp turns later, the washer ended up taking a tumble down the basement steps on top of Mr. B. who was trying to support it going down the steps.  I am not sure what happened, if I lost my grip, or whether the washer got caught on something and then just slipped on the steep, narrow stairs.  No major injuries for Mr. B.,  he's okay, but it sure did scare Coco and I.  Two hours and four appliances later, the washer and dryer both got hooked up and work, the stove has a different plug than what is on the kitchen wall, it will need to be replaced; and the refrigerator doesn't fit in its designated spot in the kitchen.  The kitchen has built-in 100 year old shelves that will need to be cut away so the refrigerator can fit against the wall.  But all in all, we got the doors put back on everything and Coco's happy, she has appliances, that's all that matters.

Coco's smiling--we got the appliances in!
