Samantha WHO??? Scam Alert.

Mr. B. scans the internet and newspaper ads nightly shopping for an RV.  Nothing wrong with that, I have found that when I do comparison shopping via the internet it really can be quite informative.  I've learned lots from the internet, who hasn't?  But what I really do hate, is when an ad is posted that's a complete scam.  This has happened to me 3 times now, and let's guess where--Craigslist.com---that's where.  I can spot them a mile away, and I have to say, I'm so annoyed with these amateur criminals and their cheap tricks to scam money out of people.  Case in point, this is the ad that was posted:                                                                                                                                           THIS COACH IS POWERED BY THE MUCH DESIRED 6.8 LITRE FUEL

INJECTED FORD ENGINE WITH AN OVERDRIVE TRANSMISSION. ALL ON AN E-450 FORD CHASSIS. AN ATTRACTIVE FRONT DRIVERS

COMPARTMENT WITH TILT WHEEL, STEERING FACE CONTROLS, POWER HEATED MIRRORS, BACK UP MONITOR, CD PLAYER AND CB RADIO

WITH POWER WINDOWS, POWER DOOR LOCKS AND A PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG 34,995 ORIGINAL MILES A VOYAGER REAR MONITORING

SYSTEM OVERDRIVE TRANSMISSION DASH AIR WORKS GREAT!

So Mr. B. asked me to send an email requesting more information.  I did, after I warned him that this is how it all starts, I was already smelling a rat.  He didn't believe me, thought I was being too pessimistic.  This is what I emailed Samantha:              Hello,
I would like to know if the Winnebago you have advertised on Craigslist.com
has a generator. If so, I would like to schedule an appointment to see it
as soon as possible.  You can email me, or call xxx-xxx-xxxx.
Thank you
Kim

Hi Kim ,
Thank you for your interest in my 2003 Winnebago Minne Winne 28FT ( 34,995 miles ). Is in absolutely perfect condition and well maintained. I sell it at this price ($14,700) because I just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce was finished I owned this RV. Anyway in this situation I can only watch it. I have some financial problems right now so I want to sell it asap and a fast sale can be done only at a low price. Unfortunately for me my daughter is in hospital and I can't do this transaction personally, the transaction will be made through eBay protection program for the safety of both of us. The total price is $14,700 and it includes delivery to your address. If you want to buy it I just need your full name, address and Phone # so I can open a case. You must know that eBay will contact you without any obligation to buy it or fees. Please reply me asap if interested.

And then......
This is what I wrote---- I haven't heard back from the scammers.  Hope they got caught. These people need to be shut down.             Hello Samantha; or whoever you really are,
I am wondering why you did not answer my question regarding the generator on this Winnebago?  Why are you requesting my info for ebay??        This should be sold on eBay if you have an account there.
I want to see this Winnebago in person, you are advertising it in this town, but it looks to me like it is located in another state. Florida perhaps??      What is YOUR phone number and what is YOUR address so that I may drive by and look at this.  I am sure the police will need this information too.   No one will be delivering anything to my house.     Sincerely, Kim

  1. This exact same post just happened to my mother-inlaw. SCAM! Beware. They are clever enough to have a fake ebay motors page and everything. Don't send them ANY info.

  2. I hope your mother-in-law didn't send money to these creeps. These scammers are all over craigslist.com whether you are buying or selling. They contacted me when I was selling furniture and wanted to send an inflated money order so I would send money back to them. My hope is that people google their names before sending money, and find the two posts I wrote about the scam they are running.
